Louisville City Council Meeting <br />May 18, 2004 <br />Page 5 of 11 <br /> <br />COUNCIL COMMENT <br /> <br />Council member Van Pelt asked Mr. Radtke if he were aware of any other municipalities <br />requiring registration information. Radtke stated he was not aware of such ordinances in <br />other municipalities~ <br /> <br />Council member Van Pelt asked Police Chief Goodman if other municipalities have <br />similar ordinances. Chief Goodman stated a lot of cities have such ordinances. <br /> <br />Council member Brown asked Chief Goodman how he would handle the celebrity status <br />or the domestic violation issues. Chief Goodman stated the information would only be <br />made available to the police and not the general public. <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk voiced his concern with the ordinance and asked Chief Goodman why the <br />ordinance should change the requirements for a search wan'ant. Chief Goodman stated <br />there is no constitutional requirement for those types of records, and an ordinance is <br />required to obtain the information. He explained the records are business and not private <br />records. He voiced his belief there would not be any abuse of the information. <br /> <br />Mr. Radtke reported hotels use a valid credit card as an acceptable method of <br />identification. <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk called for public comment, and hearing none, closed the public heating. <br /> <br />MOTION: Council member Keany moved to approve Ordinance No. 1449 Series 2004, <br />with the deletion of the last sentence of Section 5.06.010, Paragraph A. Council member <br />Levihn seconded the motion. <br /> <br />Discussion: Council member Van Pelt asked if the methods of identifications should also <br />deleted. City Attorney Light stated it was not necessary to phrase it by example. <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk stated his intention to vote against the ordinance. He voiced his belief the <br />ordinance was overly broad. <br /> <br />VOTE: Roll call vote was taken. The motion failed by a vote of 4-3. Council members <br />Brown, Clabots, Marsella, and Mayor Sisk voted no. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 1449, SERIES 2004 - AN ORDINANCE AMENDING <br />ARTICLE VI, SECTION 1 OF ORDINANCE NO. 554, SERIES 1997, AS <br />AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 994, SERIES 1989, ORDINANCE NO. 1258, <br />SERIES 1997, ORDINANCE NO. 1296, SERIES 1999, AND ORDINANCE NO. <br />1378, SERIES 2002, TO EXTEND TO AND INCLUDING NOVEMBER 10, 2004, <br />THE ELECTRIC AND GASEOUS FUEL FRANCHISE GRANTED BY THE <br />CITY OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO TO PUBLIC SERVICE COMPANY OF <br />COLORADO - 2nd reading - public hearing (advertised Daily Camera 5/8/04) <br /> <br /> <br />
