Library Board of Trustees <br />Meeting Minutes—DRAFT <br />July 6, 2017 <br />Page 2 of 4 <br />7) New Business <br />A. Code of Conduct Policy <br />Beth recommended adding `shopping carts' to the list of items that may not be brought into <br />the Library. The Board unanimously approved the change. <br />B. Laptop Policy <br />The Board was given documents recently prepared by Public Services staff related to in -Library <br />circulation of new laptops. The Board reviewed the documents for informational purposes and <br />did not have any comments. This is not a policy that needs Board approval. <br />C. Library Research Service (LRS) Comparisons <br />Beth distributed and discussed a comparison of libraries in the FLC and how they compare to <br />one another and to state averages across some key indices: <br />• Population served <br />• Visits per capita <br />• Circulation per capita <br />• Physical collection turnover rate <br />• Program attendance per 1,000 served and total program attendance <br />Ashley asked if Boulder's population included students, and Beth said she would obtain that <br />information from David Farnan (Boulder Library Director) and forward it. <br />8) Ongoing Business <br />A. Louisville City Council update (A. Stolzmann) <br />Ashley noted two issues that may appear on this year's ballot: 1) whether the residents of <br />Louisville want the option for public broadband service; and 2) do the residents of Louisville <br />want to extend the Historic Preservation Fund sales tax of $0.125 for another 10 years. <br />Other items discussed: <br />• City Council will take up the biennial budget review in August <br />• A resolution outlining the City's commitment to sustainability was passed <br />• The City will be issuing an RFP for construction of a downtown parking structure <br />o Paid parking for all of downtown is likely <br />Ashley also commended the Library and Library staff for a wonderful children's Summer <br />Reading Program she recently attended, The Big Bubble Circus. <br />B. Superior Board of Trustees update (S. Hammerly) <br />Sandie noted that the Town Board did not purchase the Lakeshore Recreation Center (LRC), <br />which was purchased by Lifetime Fitness. <br />Sandi also discussed Superior's recent experience with public broadband and that the town is <br />deemed too small for such a costly endeavor. She expressed interest in working with the City <br />of Louisville if such a project were to move forward. <br />
