Louisville City Council Meeting <br />June 1, 2004 <br />Page 8 of 12 <br /> <br />Laura Page, 920 Rex Street, Louisville, CO, voiced her appreciation for all the work put <br />into developing the community park. She voiced her opposition of the interior parking in <br />the middle of the park and the dog park. <br /> <br />Amanda Thompson, 211 Roosevelt Avenue, Louisville, CO, thanked the City Staff and <br />the public for their input on the park. She voiced her support of centralized parking and <br />the dog park. <br /> <br />Dennis Rickman, 301 Chestnut Street, Louisville, CO, voiced his support of the dog park <br />portion of the Community Park plan. He explained his home backs up to Coal Creek <br />Trail, and he and his neighbors utilize that area as a dog park. He suggested making the <br />dog park smaller. <br /> <br />Rob Lathrop, 601 Johnson Avenue, Louisville, CO stated he has used the location for the <br />Community Park daily for six years. He stated when the park was dedicated as a dog off- <br />lease area its uses and the social aspects increased dramatically. He voiced his belief the <br />Planning Commission was not aware there are many dog park supporters. He supported <br />the dog park and urged Council to approve the plan as presented. <br /> <br />Carolyn Markham, 1315 Franklin Avenue, Louisville, CO, stated she would like to see <br />the City keep some of the City sponsored events at Memory Square. <br /> <br />Axel Bishop, Design Concepts, 211 S Public Road, Lafayette, CO, stated he has designed <br />public parks for 25 years. He noted there is always some factor of controversy in the <br />design of parks. He stated a dog park, which is a large issue in the development of this <br />park, is only 10% of the entire park. He addressed the parking and noted the parking has <br />been reduced from 125 spaces to 75 spaces. <br /> <br />COUNCIL COMMENT <br /> <br />Council member Levihn stated he attended all the meetings on the Community Park and <br />noted the plan has changed significantly since the first meeting. Council member Van <br />Pelt concurred that the plan has changed significantly and stated Design Concepts has <br />done a commendable job of balancing all the public comment into the development of the <br />plan. She addressed the dog park and voiced her belief of its value to the City. <br /> <br />There was Council discussion relative to the addition of the dirt hill, the Coal Creek Trail <br />connection, plans to keep the dog park green, and verification that the park would be <br />irrigated by the reuse water line. <br /> <br />Council member Keany voiced his concem with the Front Street connection and the <br />right-of-way issue identified by Ms. Ehrmann. Planning Director Wood stated there is no <br />documentation of the vacation of the right-of-way. <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk stated that 10% of the park would be dedicated to the dog park and voiced his <br /> <br /> <br />
