Louisville City Council Meeting July 26, 2003 Page 3 of 5 Brown voiced his support for a new library and stressed that a vote of the people will determine whether a library is desired. Davidson emphasized the typical homeowner will realize a $3.00 increase a month on their property tax. He addressed Mr. Shearer's question as to the need of a new library and explained the current library was an office building and met the community's needs ten years ago, however, with the building's limitations and growth of the library users, a new library is required. He stated the cost to build a new library would be less than remodeling the existing library. Brown stressed the architects and engineers evaluated the existing library in the feasibility study and determined a new library is required. He noted the building has resale value to help defray the cost of a new library. Sisk stated the Council reviewed the citizen's requests and made an analysis of the information from the survey to determine the desires of the citizens. Davidson called for public comment and hearing none closed the public hearing. MOTION: Sisk moved that Council approve Ordinance No. 1423, Series 2003, seconded by Keany. Roll call vote was taken. The motion passed by a vote of 6-0. Levihn absent.
