City Council <br />Study Session Summary <br />October 10, 2017 <br />Page 4 of 5 <br />less than 2 years. They discovered they are more than parks, they are also about <br />public landscaping. They would like to figure out public landscaping. Newland <br />thanked Dean Johnson and Council member Loo for their guidance and <br />assistance. Newland reviewed the slides in the packet including achievements, <br />challenges and goals. The Board appreciated having earlier input on referrals. <br />Challenges include the need for design guidelines. <br />Council member Stolzmann appreciated the additional activities the board has <br />taken on. She is very excited about the Parks Grade Report. This will be helpful <br />with the budget. <br />Consistency is an issue because of the lack of guidelines. Council member <br />Stolzmann said it would be helpful if PPLAB developed a streetscape scorecard. <br />PPLAB making a recommendation will be very helpful. <br />Mayor Muckle appreciates the work. He wonders if we need an underpass/trail <br />management. Parks Superintendent Dean Johnson said it is addressed in <br />greenway definition. He hopes there is consensus with the categories and <br />definitions. <br />Council member Maloney is happy to meet with the board. PPLAB Grade Report <br />is a terrific tool; it is a useful tool for a key indicators. <br />Newland talked about unintentional costs in landscaping: Irrigation, plant <br />material. He said the City gateways need consistency and guidelines. <br />Council member Keany said the slide show is a great summary. He appreciates <br />how far along they have come. <br />Council member Stolzmann said if the Board sees a gap, let the City know and <br />continue to move forward. <br />Advanced Agenda & Identification of Future Agenda Items <br />Council member like the new format, they want Quasi -Judicial items in bold, <br />italicized with "QJ" next to it. <br />South Boulder Rd RFP— Interim City Manager Balser thinks this will come back in <br />January. <br />A subcommittee of Council will decide who will be interviewed for Boards & <br />Commissions. <br />Interim City Manager Balser said the plant material will be removed from patios <br />this week due to frost. <br />
