Library Board of Trustees <br />Meeting Minutes—DRAFT <br />September 14, 2017 <br />Page 5 of 5 <br />the process for next year and the Library is considering a registration event in the <br />Meeting Room that will include multiple registration stations. This may be something the <br />Board could add to the list of projects for next year. <br />Beth noted that Board members had not been asked to help Library staff with Back -to - <br />School nights this year, as staff did not schedule any. Based on past experience, staff <br />determined that parents are very focused on classes and other issues related to the <br />school, and are much less interested in devoting any time to Library promotions. Staff <br />and Board members' time is better spent on other efforts. <br />9) Director's Report <br />Beth reported the following: <br />■ On The Same Page (OTSP) <br />• The first book discussions have been held. Twenty-seven adults attended the first <br />discussion held at the Library on Monday, Sept. 11; a Broncos Monday Night Football <br />evening. <br />• The 'Stories on Stage' performance of excerpts from the book is scheduled for 7pm on <br />Sept. 28. <br />• Mezzo -Soprano Sarah Coit will be featured in two events, a discussion on October 5 and <br />the Lafayette Library, and a recital at the Louisville Arts Center on October 6. <br />• Solar Eclipse <br />• Beth talked about the frenzy over the Library's 2,000 pair of free solar eclipse glasses. <br />The demand, and the lengths to which people would go to obtain their free glasses, were <br />beyond anything that was anticipated. <br />• Scooters in the Library <br />Recently there has been a group of boys who have been bringing scooters into the Library and <br />riding them, swinging them around on the stairs, and causing serious disturbances in general. <br />The Library has adopted an administrative policy that includes providing a lock so that the <br />scooters can be secured to the Library's skateboard rack in the front of the building. Some <br />form of ID and a phone number will be required to obtain a lock. <br />• Digitizing the Louisville Times <br />Currently the issues from 1983-2007 have been digitized and are available through the <br />Colorado Historic Newspaper collection online. Earlier issues of the newspaper are now being <br />digitized. The Library and Museum will host an open house launch party on October 12 to <br />introduce the public to the resource and how to use it. <br />Beth asked Ashley if she wanted to talk about the upcoming ballot issues. Ashley briefly explained <br />the issues involved in the Historic Preservation Fund tax extension and the telecommunications <br />services that residents may want the City to provide. <br />10) Agenda Items for Next Meeting: November 9, 2017 <br />In addition to regular agenda items, the following will be included: <br />A.
