Gurganus) <br />Renee noted that the Foundation Board had met in August and she noted the following: <br />• The 2017 funding request was reviewed. Due to seven targeted donations, Library <br />funding was increased from $28,000 to $35,000. <br />• The Foundation is looking into grants for maintenance of the Makerspace 3D printer. <br />• The Foundation purchased a plaque to honor the Marian Madison bequest, which was the <br />largest such donation in the Foundation's history. <br />• Funds from the used book sales are increasing: <br />■ There are two volunteers, Joy and Janet, who are here at least once each week to <br />merchandise and maintain the used book sale shelves. <br />• Two Foundation members are working on a promotional piece for the November utility <br />bill mailing. <br />• The Foundation donated a gift basket to Avista for the 50,000`h baby born at the hospital. <br />The basket went to a family from Superior. <br />Renee was also asked to report on the status of the Read -Baby -Read outreach project with <br />Avista Hospital. She noted that there had been a meeting in July and the next one was <br />scheduled for October 13. Avista is looking to expand the program to include a free book to all <br />newborns, not just those from Louisville and Superior. Further discussion on funding and <br />logistics is needed. <br />D. Outreach <br />1) Realtors <br />Jeannie, Conor, and Helana had drafted an introductory letter, which was included in the <br />packet. The Board discussed the letter and made a minor change. Further discussion <br />about what a packet of information for realtors would include, as well as how to manage <br />contact with the list of realtors. Jeannie also showed the Board a draft of a possible <br />sticker design that had been prepared by a CU graphic design student. The Board <br />discussed this and came up with some other possible options for the tag line. Jeannie will <br />ask the student to revise the design. <br />2) Little Libraries <br />Jeannie noted that the schedule for stocking the libraries is set through the end of this <br />year. The Board will focus on stocking the libraries with paperbacks and leaving the hard <br />cover books available for the Foundation's used book sale shelves in the Library. <br />3) Farmers' Market <br />Jeannie reported that the Board had attended two of the markets this summer and that <br />more people seemed to know about the Makerspace. The Make -and -Take kits assembled <br />by Library staff were again handed out and were popular. <br />In addition to talking to visitors about the Makerspace, Board members also talked about <br />and handed out information for 'On The Same Page'. <br />The Library Foundation participated with a used book sale on the Library plaza. <br />4) 2018 Summer Reading Program <br />Beth reported that this year's program had been revamped and streamlined so that all <br />three programs were structurally the same. Staff is already discussing ways to improve <br />
