Louisville City Council Meeting <br />November 3, 2004 <br />Page 3 of 10 <br /> <br />REGULAR BUSINESS <br /> <br />DISCUSSION/DIRECTION - CONSIDER $10,000 CONTRIBUTION TO THE <br />DOWNTOWN BUSINESS ASSOCIATION FOR ICE RINK PROJECT <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk requested a Council presentation. <br /> <br />Council member Keany reported he and Council member Brown were contacted by the <br />Downtown Business Association (DBA) relative to a request for a $10,000 contribution <br />for the Ice Rink Project. <br /> <br />Arlin Lehman, President of the Downtown Business Association, stated the mission of <br />the DBA is to promote downtown businesses. He emphasized if the downtown businesses <br />are successful, more sales tax money is generated for the City. He noted the Street Faire <br />brings people downtown in the summer time, and the DBA is seeking a venue for the <br />winter months. The Boulder Creek Events Association approached the DBA about <br />locating an ice skating rink in the downtown area. The cost of the rink is $150,000. The <br />DBA requests the City of Louisville donate $10,000 to fund the ice skating rink project. <br /> <br />Rob Scott, 946 Arapahoe Circle, Louisville, CO addressed the proposed 2005 budget and <br />requested Council put in more tennis courts in Louisville. He also requested that the <br />2005 Recreation Center budget not be cut. <br /> <br />Council member Keany noted that any contribution for the ice skating rink would be <br />from the 2004 budget, as no funds were appropriated in the 2005 budget. <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk concurred that the downtown businesses must be successful to generate sales <br />tax money. He applauded the DBA for bringing the project to Louisville. <br /> <br />MOTION: Council member Keany moved for Council approval of a $10,000 <br />contribution to the Downtown Business Association for an Ice Skating Rink. Council <br />member Marsella seconded the motion. Roll call vote was taken. The motion carried by <br />a vote of 7-0. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING- PROPOSED 2005 BUDGET <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk requested a Staff presentation. <br /> <br />Finance Director Patty Leslie reviewed the proposed 2005 Operating and Capital Budget <br />for the City of Louisville. Changes approved and implemented into the current Proposed <br />2005 Operation & Capital Budget are as follows: <br /> <br />· Lodging Tax transfer from General Fund to Capital Projects fund was changed <br /> from $504,905 to $500,000. <br /> <br /> <br />
