City Council
Meeting Minutes
December 19, 2017
Because the conditions seem to exist in the entire comdor, Ms. Adettiwar also
presented the suggestion of investigating the entire area, as discussed in the proposal
included with the report.
Mr. Adettiwar stated the urgent steps he recommended include more hazard signs be
installed, blocking the access at West Sagebrush Court, and monitoring the existing
slide with the inclinometer installed at bonng B1 He also recommended the entire
coyote run corndor be investigated for land slide hazards.
Near future items he suggested for the next 1-2 years. design drainage improvements in
the entire comdor and implement those improvements in the next 2-3 years.
Councilmember Maloney asked what the costs would be for Option 5. Mr Adettiwar
stated Options 1-4 are for stabilizing the existing slide, Option 5 is to address the entire
corndor. The cost for Option 5 is unknown at this time
Councilmember Maloney asked what staff recommends. City Manager Balser stated
staff suggests doing a Request for Proposals (RFP) to complete Option 5 and to put
some costs on these options Director Stevens stated based on the report, staff is
suggesting using the RFP to get some firm numbers to complete the process for the
whole area. What is still missing is survey work and project management for options 1-
4 Part is continued study and part is actually doing the work. If the area can be
addressed in totality, staff would like to bring that for consideration
Councilmember Maloney asked Mr Adettiwar if this slide is going to keep sliding and
put homes in danger. Adettiwar stated the slide movement is unpredictable and very
close to the community trail at the south end of the slide. There are significant tension
cracks in the ground and the slide has increased so it is important to install those signs
and close that access
Councilmember Maloney asked what staff is looking for, how do we weigh the seventy
of this, and is there any joint responsibility with the neighborhood. Interim City Manager
Balser stated there is a need to do the RFP for more assessment and staff would like to
get direction on the administrative steps for signage, etc. The plan would be to review
for the next 1-2 years and implement in year three if needed
Councilmember Stolzmann stated there is a need to do something tonight so the
neighborhood knows we are doing something She supports option 4 and at minimum
do the water table mitigation. We should get the costs and close the social trail with a
sign about the potential hazard. Perhaps remove some of the other signs that might
attract people to the site. She is looking forward to the RFP.
Adettiwar suggested monitoring the ground movement as well
