Historic Preservation Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />August 18, 2008 <br />Page 7 of 8 <br />Muckle asked that "Historic Character and Cultural Identity" be included in the leading <br />principle of Chapter 3. <br />Muth will give the suggestions to the Planning Staff for inclusion in their public hearings <br />on the Comprehensive Plan Update. <br />Subcommittee Reports <br />Landmark Plaque Design -Whiteman <br />Whiteman reported that the Colorado Center for Community Development at UCD's <br />Architecture and Planning School has a program where they will design the plaques and <br />bid the cost of fabrication. The cost to the City is $400. He asked if he could proceed. <br />Commission members were supportive of moving forward with this and Muth stated that <br />the City could cover the $400 cost. <br />Why Preserve Pamphlet - Koertje/McMenamin <br />Koertje stated he was gathering information on this and will try to present it at the <br />September meeting. <br />Green Build Pamphlet -Lewis/Menza <br />Lewis is gathering information for this. There is still a large disconnect between green <br />building and preservation for many people. She is trying to gather a "facts vs. myths" list <br />and information on how a homeowner can make a historic home sustainable without <br />damaging the historic aspects of the home. <br />Old Town Historic District -Muckle/Tofte - No report <br />Community Outreach -Whiteman/Muckle - No report <br />Incentives - Koertje/McMenamin - No report <br />Mine Marker Program - Koertje/Muckle <br />The subcommittee is planning to meet again in the next few weeks. Koertje will report <br />back. <br />Update on Demolition Requests -None <br />Discussion/Comments on Planning Department Referrals -None <br />Updates <br />836 & 844 Main Street - No report <br />1024 LaFarge Avenue (stay expires October 1, 2008) - No report <br />944 Garfield Avenue (stay expires November 30, 2008) - No report <br />Ms. Downer's Cabins - No report <br />Items from Staff <br />
