<br />City Council <br />Study Session Summary <br />September 9, 2008 <br />Page 2 of6 <br /> <br />Donna Hauswald, Chair of the Historical Commission gave an update of the <br />Historical Commission's accomplishments over the last year which included the <br />following: <br />o Museum Coordinator's position being increased to 29 hours a week. Ms. <br />Hauswald thanked the Council for increase in hours. <br />o Membership increase of 100 new members in 2008 <br />o Fundraising - <br />o Silent Auction raised $5300.00 <br />o Annual Home Tour - the Commission as 5 homes set for the <br />2008 Home Tour and have 5 homes identified for the 2009 Home <br />Tour. The 2008 Home Tour will include 3 homes on Lincoln, 1 on <br />Main Street and 1 on LaFarge Avenue. <br />o Private Donor contributions <br />o Treasury has approximately $30,000 and will be using $15,000 <br />for new fencing around the Museum campus <br />o Community Outreach - Elementary School Tours, website, Louisville <br />Historian newsletter, in-person visits to the Museum, Home Tour, Oral <br />History Program and Photo Collection <br />o Volunteerism - During 2008 the Historical Commission is tracking volunteer <br />time. <br />Ms. Hauswald said that for 2009 the Historical Commission will be requesting <br />the following from City Council: <br />o Museum Coordinator's position a full-time position <br />o A part-time position <br />o Facility Management <br />o New building on Main Street for storage, public restrooms, offices, holding <br />space for group tours <br />Ms. Hauswald asked if the Council had any questions. <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk asked if the there were any vacancies for the upcoming <br />Board/Commission appointments. Public Relations Manager Meredyth Muth <br />said that there was one term ending and 2 vacancies that were not filled last <br />year. <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk asked where the 33% increase in the Museum Coordinator's <br />position was being used the most. Bridget Bacon, Museum Coordinator said <br />that it was difficult to answer. <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk asked if graduate/undergraduate students had been considered for <br />an internship to assist with Museum. Museum Coordinator Bacon said that <br />space and expertise were issues, but that a person had come to the museum <br />asking to do an internship and that Coordinator Bacon would be working with <br />the person to assist in the Museum. <br /> <br />Councilor Frost Yarnell expressed her appreciation for the work that the <br />Historical Commission does for the City. <br /> <br />Councilor Bob Muckle asked if the Historical Commission had interaction with <br />the Senior Centers in Louisville.
