ARCHITECTURAL DESCRIPTION:
Information is from the 2000 Survey and Jefferson Place Survey (attached)
Supported by a concrete foundation, the wood -frame house has an intersecting gable
roof. Asbestos shingles replaced wood siding at some time after 1948.The majority of
the windows are 1/1 double -hung wood frames with a fixed window on the east
elevation. A hipped -roof, front porch is supported by turned columns and an open wood
balustrade with turned balusters. The columns and balustrade replicate the original. A
shed -roof, enclosed rear porch is located on the west end of the south elevation.
Additions to the west elevation and to the west end of the south elevation predate the
1960s.
A concrete, one -bay, gable garage is located along the alley.
CRITERIA FOR DEMOLITION REVIEW:
The Historic Preservation Commission should review the demolition permit application
based upon any of the following criteria in Section 15.36.200(H) of the Louisville
Municipal Code
CRITERIA
FINDINGS
1.
The eligibility of
the building for
designation as
an individual
landmark
consistent with
the purposes
and standards in
this chapter;
Significance
Social Significance - Exemplifies cultural, political, economic
or social heritage of the community.
The property is worthy of nomination as a Louisville local
landmark due to its long association with prominent
local citizen John Dionigi, who was at various times the
justice of the peace, de facto town administrator, city clerk,
deputy town marshal, chief of police, water commissioner,
and street and alley commissioner.
Architectural Significance - Represents a built environment
of a group of people in an era of history that is culturally
significant to Louisville.
The vernacular structure is a part of the pattern of
development in the Jefferson Place subdivision including
scale, location on the lot,
Integrity
The house has integrity of location, setting, design
workmanship, feeling and association. Integrity of materials
and design are somewhat compromised by the replacement
asbestos siding, window alterations, and replacement porch
balustrade and porch columns.
Staff finds the property meets the criteria for significance
and integrity making it eligible for designation as an
individual landmark.
4
