Sec. 2.02.020 — Mayor — powers and duties. <br />A The Mayor shall preside over meetings of the City Council, but <br />shall be a member of the Council and shall have the same voting powers as any <br />Councilmember. <br />B. The Mayor shall exercise such executive powers and <br />responsibilities with respect to the admimstration of the City as are provided by <br />ordinance. <br />Sec. 2.02.030 — Qualifications. <br />A The Mayor shall be a registered elector of the City who has <br />resided within the limits of the City for at least twelve (12) consecutive months <br />immediately preceding the election. If an annexation has occurred, residence <br />within the annexed territory for the prescribed time penod shall be deemed to <br />meet the residency requirements of this section <br />B Each Councilmember shall be a registered elector of the City who <br />has resided in his or her respective ward for at least twelve (12) consecutive <br />months immediately preceding the election If the boundaries of the ward are <br />changed pursuant to the Charter or as a result of annexation, residence for the <br />prescribed time period, within temtory added to the ward, shall be deemed to <br />meet the residency requirements for the ward to which the temtory was added <br />C. Any person who seeks election or appointment to the office of <br />Mayor or Councilmember, and who has been convicted of any of the following <br />offenses, shall disclose the same, in writing and under penalty of penury: <br />1 Any felony offense, and <br />2 Embezzlement, bnbery, penury, solicitation of bribery, or <br />subornation of perjury <br />For such purposes, any person required to make such disclosure shall complete, <br />sign and file with the City Clerk a written disclosure statement that contains the <br />person's name and address, the name of the offense required to be disclosed, the <br />date of the conviction, and a sworn or verified statement signed by the person, <br />under penalty of penury, stating that to the best of the person's knowledge, <br />information, and belief, the person has provided, accurately and completely, all of <br />the information required by the disclosure form in compliance with the Code of <br />Ethics. <br />D For purposes of Subsection C, a conviction includes being found <br />guilty of, a plea of guilty to, a plea of no contest or nolo contendere to, or the <br />receipt of a deferred judgment or deferred sentence for, any of the offenses <br />Ordinance No 1753, Senes 2018 <br />Page 3 of 62 <br />
