Open Space Advisory Board <br />April 11, 2018 Minutes <br />Page 2 of 4 <br />C. Fishing Frenzy at Warembourg Pond is scheduled for 4/13/2018: 65 have signed <br />up, and many sign up the day before. Brochure to highlight educational programs <br />has been developed to be handed out at this and other events. <br />D. Upcoming Earth Day Clean Up event (April 21st 9-10am) <br />E. Cody Thompson, new ranger, starts Monday 4/16/2018. Interviews for seasonal <br />employees are ongoing. <br />F. The Planning Department has started working on the Transportation Master Plan <br />and Ember has been invited to participate to represent the trail connectivity <br />aspect and share the Wayfinding design priorities. <br />G. City Council will be discussing Budget at meeting on 4/17/2018. Individuals from <br />OSAB are encouraged to attend. <br />VI. Board Updates <br />A. Helen was unable to attend the March OSAB meeting & did not vote on CIP <br />priorities. She expressed an interest in supporting Wayfinding, Dog Master Plan, <br />and Equipment Replacement. <br />B. Peter reported that he will be unable to attend May OSAB meeting. <br />C. Jim commented that multiple plastic containers are present near the east gate of <br />Davidson Mesa DOLA, despite additional recycling containers. He noted that <br />there seemed to be an initial reduction in plastic containers. <br />D. Mike reported that he and Fiona have been trying to meet with PPLAB but it's <br />challenging to schedule this joint tiger -team meeting. Mike has drafted a format <br />for researching and recording Dog Park siting and features findings that other <br />municipalities have prepared. From this matrix, the Joint Tiger Team will distill <br />Best Practices for Louisville, to support the Dog Master Plan going forward. <br />Mike attended the PPLAB meeting last week; he reported on initial efforts to the <br />whole group and met the other tiger team member, Mark Newland. <br />E. Peter reported that he and Mike attended the Boulder County Nature Association <br />Symposium and felt that it was time well spent. <br />VII. Public Comments on Items Not on the Agenda <br />Dawson Mills (1999 LaSalle St, Superior) recommended outreach to Monarch HS as <br />well as other schools to expand involvement with Open Space & trails. Ember asked him to <br />send her the name of teacher or club to serve as initial contact and also provided her business <br />card to the student. <br />VIII. CSU Cheat Grass Study - Update <br />Shannon Clark (CSU, Dept. Bioagricultural Science and Pest Management) presented <br />results of using single as well as a combination of several herbicides to control cheat grass <br />(downy brome) and mullein. Studies were done in winter 2016 to minimize effects on native <br />
