Outline of Recruitment Process for the Library & <br />Museum Services Director <br />Introduction <br />The City understands that hiring a Library & Museum Services Director (LMS <br />Director) is an important component of effective city government which is there to serve <br />its citizens and the community. <br />General Steps in Hiring <br />• Determine future needs of the City's Library and Museum Services <br />• Develop a profile of the ideal candidate based on those needs <br />• Plan a hiring strategy and recruit applicants <br />• Screen applicants - confidential and only the finalists are announced <br />• Assess candidates - interview process with the "finalists" which is then public <br />information in the State of Colorado <br />• Hire the Director - the hiring decision of the LMS Director lies with the City <br />Manager as outlined in the City Charter. <br />• Establish and maintain a good working relationship with the LMS Director <br />City of Louisville's Plan for hiring the Library & Museum Services Director <br />• Publish a Request for Proposal (RFP) to hire an executive search firm that has <br />expertise relative to public libraries and museum executive positions. <br />• Review responses to RFP and select the executive search firm with City <br />Council's approval - approval of the contract must go before City Council in <br />accordance with City's Purchasing Polices <br />• Executive Search Firm is selected and the Firm in conjunction with the Human <br />Resources Department will oversee and shepherd the recruitment process. <br />o Firm will hold meetings with Board members, City staff, and the public to <br />develop profile of the ideal candidate based on those needs <br />o Firm will prepare a recruitment brochure - post positions in strategic <br />locations/websites and actively recruit <br />o Firm will recruit nationwide for this specialized position which is a <br />combination of Library and Museum Services expertise and skills. <br />o ,Fri will review all candidates with a small group of "Review Committee" <br />members composed of City Manager, human resources representative, <br />and one Board member. Group will select Finalists <br />
