11: City,/
im Louisville
COLORADO • SINCE 1878
BRAD COMMUNICATION
SUBJECT:
DISCUSSION — FALL 2018 LOUISVILLE BUSINESS FORUM
DISCUSSION
DATE: OCTOBER 1, 2018
PRESENTED BY: AARON M. DEJONG, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
SUMMARY:
Staff would like the BRaD Committee to discuss and decide on the upcoming Louisville
Business Forum topic. Staff would also like to discuss potential dates for the event.
BACKGROUND:
The BRaD Committee held its first Louisville Business Forum on May 17, 2018. The
event was held at the Ascent Church on McCaslin Boulevard. Nearly 100 people
attended the event. The topic discussed centered around the economic health of the
community and a brief discussion of challenges facing the area and region.
Several positive reviews were given about the event and there was a desire to continue
offering future forums to engage the business community.
DISCUSSION:
At the August BRaD meeting, staff requested members provide feedback via email on
desired topics to consider for the next forum. Options provided for feedback were:
• Transportation Roundtable
• Housing Roundtable
• Quality of Life issues
• Parking
• Energy Efficiency/ sustainability
The leading topic of interest among responding members was to discuss housing. The
topic can take several different paths, so staff would like BRaD input into its planning.
Options of topics to discuss housing could include:
• Data identifying the housing issue (supply data, high demand, cost burden,
entitled development)
• Discuss the County Housing Consortium work
• Discuss the City Council approved housing resolution
• Show the funding challenges to constructing affordable housing
• Stories of how housing affects employers/employees
• Lack of funding to create/maintain housing that is attainable
• Discuss solutions to the housing issue (not many solutions have been
vetted/approved)
BRAD COMMUNICATION
