LCity,f
Louisville
Parks & Recreation
Memorandum
To: Parks and Public Landscaping Advisory Board
From: Dean Johnson, Parks Superintendent
Date: 10/22/2018
Subject: Scoresheet Discussion
Purpose:
The purpose of this agenda item is to collectively discuss the results of the attached "Louisville
Parks Grade Report".
Background:
Individual Board Members were assigned parks to evaluate and score on the attached Grade
Report. PPLAB first scored parks back in 2016 as a way to provide feedback to staff on current
needs, conditions, and suggestions for improvements. This scoring or grading has now become
a part of data annually collected and inputted into related Key Performance Indicators.
This year's Park scoring process included visiting Cottonwood Park for board members to discuss
how to categorize and rate park elements with a real example in the field. Also, the board
discussed their experience, initial results and ways of fine tuning the approach to scoring the
condition of park elements.
A modified scoring sheet is attached reflecting input from individual board members. This
meeting will focus on additional refinements to the scoring considering the relevance,
importance and the potential for additional categories.
Next Steps:
Depending on the PPLAB deliberation at its November meeting, the park scoring will either be
finalized or will go through an additional round of refinement.
8
