Liberato Martella died in 1934. The following photo from the Martella family shows, left
to right, Colomba, Vincent, Tony, Albert, Jr., Edward, Clarence, Marguirete, Thomas, and
William.
Colomba remarried to a Louisville widower, Ralph DeAndrea. Ralph's wife, Savina
Bottinelli DeAndrea, had died in 1939. Ralph was born in 1893 in Italy. He lived in
Superior, Colorado before coming to Louisville and he worked as a coal miner.
Ralph DeAndrea and his son, Wilbur, then moved into the Martella home at 1100
Lincoln. The 1940 census shows Ralph and Colomba DeAndrea living at 1100 Lincoln
along with Ralph's son, Wilbur, age 20, plus six of the eight Martella children: Albert, 22;
Edward, 21; Clarence, 19; "Margaret," 17; Thomas, 14; and William, 12.
Five of the seven Martella brothers served in World War II, and they are shown in the
film of Louisville servicemen when they were home on leave, "Our Boys and Girls in the
Armed Forces, 1943-44." It is believed that Colomba Martella can also be seen in one of
the scenes on this film.
In 1946, Colomba Martella sold the north part of the property to another party. This is
now 1108 Lincoln.
The following photo of the building is from the County Assessor Card and is believed to
date from 1948:
