Louisville Historical Museum
Department of Library & Museum Services
City of Louisville, Colorado
July 2015
LCityf .
Louisville
COLORADO • SINCE I S 8
1021 Main Street History
Legal Description: Lots 5 & 6, Block 1, Barclay Place
Year of Construction: circa 1908 (see discussion below)
Summary: This property was the longtime home of the DiSalvo family.
2000 Architectural Inventory Form
1021 Main was surveyed in 2000. The statement of significance in the 2000 Architectural Inventory
Form reads as follows:
This house is historically significant, relative to National Register Criterion A, for its
associations with the DeSalvo family, and with residential development in Louisville
during the first half of the twentieth century. The property is also historically significant
for its representation of this Louisville neighborhood's ethnic Italian heritage. The
building is architecturally significant because it is one of the community's best examples
of a wood frame side gabled dwelling, dating from the early 1900s. For these reasons,
this property is eligible for individual listing in the National Register of Historic Places
under Criteria A and C.
The survey form also noted that the property "exhibits a high level of historic integrity. Two additions to
the rear elevation are more than fifty years old, and are architecturally compatible with the building's
original construction."
Development of Barclay Place
The Barclay Place subdivision in which this house sits was platted in 1897.
Felix Tomeo Ownership, 1903
Property records indicate that Felix Tomeo likely acquired Lots 5 & 6, which make up 1021 Main, as part
of the same transaction as his purchase of Lots 3 & 4 in 1903. He acquired "Lot 3 et al" from Alexander
Gourlay (transcribed by Boulder County as Gourley in this transaction), who was one of the developers
of the Barclay Place subdivision. Tomeo then sold Lots 5 & 6 to Pasqua) Satriano the same year.
1
