Louisville Historical Museum
Department of Library & Museum Services
City of Louisville, Colorado
June 2012
ILZ Cityof
Louisville
COLORAnO • SINCE 187E
841 Garfield Ave. History
Legal Description: Lots 1 & 2, Block 5, Louisville Heights subdivision
Year of Construction: 1907
Summary: This home was associated with the Jordan family for over thirty years and
the Brown/Davis/Stevens family for over fifty-five years.
Development of the Louisville Heights Subdivision; Date of Construction
The Louisville Heights Addition in which this house sits was first developed in 1904 by
the Colorado Mortgage and Investment Co. For the foregoing reasons, the estimated date of construction is 1907.
Fisher Family Ownership, 1907-circa 1918
Emery, or "Emory," Fisher purchased this property from the subdivision developers in
1907. The Fisher family appears in the 1910 census records in Louisville (but the exact
location of their home is unclear from these records; however, presumably it was at 841
Garfield).
Emery Fisher, born in Iowa in about 1872, was working as a foreman at a mine at the
time of the 1910 census. Barbara Bammer Fisher was born in Louisville in 1883. Their
