No County Assessor card for this property could be located, so there is not a 1948 photo <br />or ground layout image for 824 South that could be included with this report. <br />According to his obituary, Rome was closely associated with his home at 824 South. His <br />granddaughter wrote in 1985 that he had built the steel pipe swing set and the <br />flagstone patio years before. He is also remembered for carrying on Italian traditions <br />such as winemaking, most likely in the home's cellar. <br />Rome Perrella was elected to the Louisville City Council in 1969 and served for eight <br />years. He was honored by the Society of Italian Americans at Louisville's La Festa in <br />1990. <br />Following the deaths of Jennie and Rome Perrella in 1992 and 1994, the property passed <br />out of the Perrella family in 1995. The family sold it to Leonard and Pamela Orme in <br />1995, who sold it to DEI LLC in 1998. DEI sold the property to Ronda Grassi and Nancy <br />Welch in 2000. <br />The preceding research is based on a review of relevant and available online County property records, <br />census records, oral history interviews, Louisville directories, and Louisville Historical Museum maps, files, <br />and obituary records. <br />3 <br />
