Statement of significance: This property has a long association with one of Louisville's early Italian coal -mining families, the Buffo family. Dominic Buffo arrived in Louisville in the 1890s and raised his family in the house next door at 709 Walnut. His son William and William's wife Betty built the current house at 711 Walnut in the 1950s. Betty continues to live at 711 Walnut and own 709 Walnut.
