La Cityof Louisville PARKS & RECREATION Memorandum To: Open Space Advisory Board From: Ember Brignull, Open Space Manager Date: November 14, 2018 Re: Staff Updates General: • Boulder County Commissioners awarded the Boulder Areas Trails Mobile Application Development Project to the Timmons Group of Richmond, Virginia. • Encroachment Campaign continues. At this point all wards have been reviewed for compliance and we are at roughly 95% compliance. • Legal staff has made revisions to the Open Space and Parks Municipal Code as requested by the Legal Committee. Staff will be reviewing the revisions and working with legal staff to present the revised content to the Legal Committee. After Legal Committee has approved the revisions the content will be going to City Council. A date for Legal Committee review has not been set yet. • OSAB Boulder County Parks and Open Space Trails and Acquisition Partnership Recommendations will be reviewed by City Council in early December. • Vegetation surveys have been conducted on the western half of Davidson Mesa to document current vegetation communities before the proposed prescribed fire in 2019 • Prairie dog management will be conducted on Daughenbaugh, CTC, Davidson Mesa, and Aquarius during the month of November. • Staff is working to remove Russian olive trees and sprouts on Open Space properties. • A contractor has been hired to fabricate and install interpretive panels to the Hecla Lake bird blind. • "No Dogs Allowed" signs are being placed on Harper Lake at HOA property boundaries and replaced where needed. "Mind your Fishing Line" sign are being replaced with "Keep off the ice" signs. • Staff is mowing Russian thistle patches on Davidson Mesa to prevent tumbling weeds. • Staff has submitted a restoration request to Comcast for work that impacted Open Space properties.
