Need to identify what county goals
align with existing SAP, gaps, where to overhaul and update. Allison likely not to handle
topic but process and review and compiling info. LSAB to focus on framing and priorities.
LSAB concern with content development being beyond "advisory". LSAB to focus on
framework but not details. Allison to discuss process and staffing capacity with City
Manager. City is part of CO Climate Action Coalition- plan should reference CCAC
priorities. Also need to ask about Open Government policies on document sharing.
Continue to distinguish internal and external goals. Assigned LSAB member to topics (per
County plan) as follows:
• Air quality- Dan
• Climate- Laura
• Ecological health- Seth
• Energy and Buildings- Mark
• Health and Wellness- review but refer to county resources and strategies.
• Local Food and Agriculture- Marianne
• Transportation- Allison/ Marianne until new LSAB member assigned. Maybe they
will focus here or we rework assignments.
• Water- Dan
• Zero Waste: Mark, (Seth)
Goals and timing: next month: identify how city and county align on strategies. Marianne
to distribute comparison template.
IV. Sustainability related communications and advertising processes
Discussion: Is there a designee in city on communications that can help promote events/
programs? What to do with other information sharing requests? What events/ programs
do have successful comm plans/ process? Also ask MaryAnn what worked with garden
events? Maybe secretary for the month helps with social media distribution? Get update
for January agenda.
V. Discussion on sustainability of cannabis grows in Louisville
Two proposals under review. Mark: recommend against grows due to resource
consumption and waste. Allison: would need very strong best practices to mitigage
impact. Dan: use example of food manufacturing, there is not overstep in compliance for
that specific industry by city beyond business codes. Is there a state or county regulation
that baseline energy needs to be renewable? The county strategy is to impose a fee on
energy intensive industries. Allison tasked to draft letter. LSAB has split opinions and
requests that council consider the impacts and reference best practices in its decision
making.
