SUBJECT: <br />SELECTION OF 5 YEAR SOLID WASTE HAULER <br />DATE: <br />FEBRUARY 12, 2019 <br />PAGE 3 OF 3 <br />The program offers several Trash, Recycle, and Compost container mixes. Specific <br />pricing for a container mix is provided in the attached presentation. <br />Both Proposers requested changes to the Cost Index being considered for the next 5- <br />year contract annual price increases. The City's contract has traditionally utilized the <br />National All Urban Consumers Price Index. Western Disposal has requested utilization <br />of the All Urban Consumers Price Index (Denver Aurora Lakewood). Republic Services <br />has requested utilization of the Water Sewer Trash Index. The City of Lafayette uses <br />this same CPI for their 5-year hauler contract. Further detail on this is provided in the <br />presentation. <br />Staff is recommending utilization of the CPI for Denver Aurora Lakewood, which is more <br />representative of local economic conditions. <br />PROGRAM/SUB-PROGRAM IMPACT: <br />The main objective for the Solid Waste Sub -Program is to enable residents to dispose of <br />their solid waste in a convenient, environmentally responsible, cost effective manner. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />City Council provide direction on the preferred Pay as You Throw rate structure and <br />provide Staff direction to negotiate a Final Contract with the associated recommended <br />hauler for approval on March 5th, 2019. <br />ATTACHMENT(S): <br />1.
