Henry Helart (1873-1937) was born in France and came to the U.S. in the late 1800s. In
Marshall, Colorado in 1898, he married Evodie Bodhaine (1880-1970). She was born in France
and came to the U.S. with her parents, as a child, in about 1887. They initially lived in Marshall,
where Henry was a coal miner, before moving to Louisville. They had the following children:
Bertha (1899-1984); Aimee (1902-1976); Henry, Jr. (1904-1962); Evodie (1912-1994); and Frank
(1916-1960). The following photos from a public family tree on Ancestry.com show Evodie
Bodhaine Helart and Henry Helart:
Henry Helart, Sr. died in 1937 at the age of 63, not long after the house at 213 Roosevelt was
constructed. It then became the residence of his widow, Evodie Helart, until her old age in the
1960s. The 1940 federal census and later town directories show her to be living in the house by
herself.
The current Boulder County website gives 1936 as the year of construction of this house. (It
should be noted that the Boulder County Property Viewer shows a photo of the wrong property
for this address, however.)
In 1967 and 1968, a few years before Evodie Helart's death in 1970, members of the Helart
family (Evodie Helart, her living children, and the heirs of her deceased children) sold the
property at 213 Roosevelt to Carol Warembourg Koch.
A Boulder County Assessor card for this property could not be located and is not among the
scanned images of Louisville properties that the Louisville Historical Museum obtained from
Boulder's Carnegie Library for Local History. The original card may have been removed from the
County Assessor cards at some point and not replaced.
Carol Warembourg Koch Johnston and Related Ownership, 1968-2018
Carol Warembourg Koch purchased 213 Roosevelt in 1968 (with some legal filings having been
made in 1967).
2
