City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />December 16, 2008 <br />Page 5 of 14 <br />Water and wastewater rates will be increased 3.0°% effective January 1, 2009. <br />The 3.0% utility rate increase in the minimum water billing for each residential <br />account is from $9.84 to $19.14. The residential sewer charge will increase from <br />$13.92 per month to $14.34 per month. Storm water fees will be increased by 50- <br />cents per month for single family accounts and a proportionate increase for all <br />other accounts. The 50-cent increase in monthly storm water fees will increase <br />the single-family fee from $2.25 to $2.75. He presented a chart of the current <br />projects for the utility funds. The chart noted two large capital projects; the <br />Windy Gap Firming Project and the Water Plant Expansion Project. <br />Mayor Sisk requested public comment. There were no comments <br />COUNCIL COMMENT <br />Mayor Sisk asked Public Works Director Phare how Louisville's water and sewer <br />rates compare to the neighboring communities; Boulder, Lafayette, Superior and <br />Erie. Public Works Director Phare stated the City of Louisville's water rates are <br />lower and in some instances significantly lower than the neighboring <br />communities. <br />Mayor Sisk commended previous Councils for their foresight in purchasing water <br />rights, and the present Water Committee for their guidance. <br />Councilor Muckle commented the City of LouisvillE; has one of the best water <br />portfolios and it will be even better when the Windy Gap project is completed and <br />there is more storage capacity. He also commended previous Councils for <br />purchasing water rights and the Public Works Department. <br />MOTION: Councilor Sackett moved to approve Resolution No. 64, Series 2008, <br />seconded by Councilor Muckle. Roll call vote was taken.
