• be for the term of one year ' succeeding such appointment , unless 11. otherwise removed from office for cause; , provided, that such of- ficer shall not hold office under: such appointment or as filling a vacancy, beyond one week after the succeeding Board of Trustees have qualified and entered upon the duties of their office. Pro- vided, further, that this section shall not be construed as pro- hibiting such.. officer from succeeding himself upon due and regular reappointment. Section 6.,. Clerk Salary. Amended by Ordinance No. 122. Section 7. The said Town, Clerk and Ex-officio Water and Street Commissioner and Deputy Town' Marshal shall perform all such duties as are now, or may be imposed upon him by the laws of the State or the ordinances of the Town of Louisville. He shall perform all of the duties which have heretofore been performed by the Town Marshal -as Ex-Officio Water and Street Commissioner and shall be entitled, upon taking office as the proper successor in office , to receive from the incumbent Town Marshal and Ex-Officio Water and Street Commissioner, such of the records, books, accounts, maps and property as pertain to the function or office of Water. and Street Commissioner, as may be in the custody or possession of said incumbent; and the said Town Clerk and Ex-Officio Water and Street Commissioner shall perform such further or other duties as may from time to time be' required of him by the Board, of Trustees by resolution or motion duly adopted. He shall co-operate as Deputy Marshal, so far ,as consistent with his other duties, with the Town Marshal in policing the Town. Section 8. The said Town Clerk and Ex-Officio Water and Street Commissioner and Deputy Marshal shall, before entering upon the duties of his office, take and subscribe his official oath and • execute a bond running to the Town of Louisville in the penal sum of two thousand dollars , covering each and. all of the functions of the said office as hereinbefore described, with two good and sufficient sureties to be approved by the Board of Trustees and conditioned for the faithful discharge of his duties as defined by law and the ordinances of the Town of Louisville and that he will, whenever required by law or the ordinances of the said Town, account for and promptly pay and deliver over to his successor in 'office , or :to the person authorized to receive the same, all moneys, papers and property in his custody or possession belonging to the Town.. Section 9. That in case of a vacancy in the office of said Town Marshal or said Town Clerk ,and Ex-Officio Water and Street Com- missioner and Deputy Marshal, caused by death, resignation, removal from office or from the Town of Louisville, then the Board of Trust- ees, shall appoint some competent elector of the Town to fill such vacancy for the unexpired term.
