A MESSAGE FROM MAYOR STOLZMANN
Thank you, Louisville.
I know it has been a challenging
few months and none of us knows
exactly what the rest of the year
1 will bring. However, throughout
all of it, our community has shown
resilience, strength, and compas-
sion. We have supported our com-
munity by doing our part to slow
the spread of COVID-19. We have
supported our local businesses by
shopping locally when we can. And we have support-
ed our friends, neighbors, and loved ones by being
there for them virtually when we couldn't be there in
person.
I also want to thank the City staff who continue to
serve our community. Even when City facilities are
closed to the public, City staff continue to keep our
community safe; improve and maintain roads and in-
frastructure; ensure we have safe, clean water; process
building and planning applications and inspections;
communicate important information; support our
business community; create engaging and informative
online library, fitness, and sustainability resources; en-
gage with our senior community; look after our parks
and open space; maintain our facilities; and keep City
IT systems going so staff can complete so much of this
work remotely.
If we've learned anything recently, it's that informa-
tion and guidance can change rapidly in the current
climate. I urge you to visit LouisvilleCO.gov/COVID19
for the latest information, including any changes to
City facilities and operations. You can also sign up to
receive updates from the City by sharing your email
address at LouisvilleCO.gov/CommunityUpdate. If you
don't have access to the internet, you can still reach
us by phone. You can find our phone numbers on the
back cover of this Community Update.
As ever, I'm proud to be your Mayor and a resident of
this great city. We'll get through this together.
Sincerely,
Mayor Ashley Stolzmann
FREE ZOOM BACKGROUNDS
Do you find yourself attending a lot of video calls
these days? In just one month from mid -March
until mid -April, 19 solar permits were submitted online
and granted by the City's Building Safety Department
(compared to 94 residential permits in the whole of
2019).
Commenting on the new service, Chief Building
Official Chad Root said:
"The transition to online permitting has allowed our
office to review permits in record time. We're pleased
to be able to offer residents and commercial entities a
more efficient process and make it faster and easier to
go carbon -free in our community'
Go solar
In August 2019, Louisville City Council adopted Lou-
isville's first ever climate action goals, which included
community -wide carbon emission reductions and
carbon -free electricity goals.
From increasing home value to lessening our environ-
mental impact, the benefits of going solar are many,
however, knowing the next steps can be a challenge.
As Boulder County residents, there are a myriad of
resources available.
Through EnergySmart, a Boulder County program,
energy advisors help you find and file your applica-
tion for all eligible rebates and connect you with
a pre -qualified list of solar contractors. Through
Solar*Rewards and Net Metering, Xcel Energy offers
programs to bank excess solar which is then applied
back to customer's utility billing.
