CXtY°.f BUSINESS RETENTION AND Louisville DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE COLORADO -SINCE 1.878 SUBJECT: DISCUSSION- BUSINESS SATISFACTION SURVEY PREVIEW DATE: NOVEMBER 2, 2020 PRESENTED BY: MEGAN E. PIERCE, ECONOMIC VITALITY DIRECTOR SUMMARY: Surveying of Louisville businesses regarding their general satisfaction has been done most recently in 2017 and 2018. City staff hopes to administer the next satisfaction survey in early 2021. DISCUSSION: It is important to routinely gauge the pulse of the business community —to learn about their hopes, concerns, and future plans. In 2017 the Satisfaction Survey was performed by the Boulder Insights Group. In 2018, the Survey was administered on behalf of the BRaD Committee and was sent in June 2018. Results reports from both surveys are attached to this report (please see Attachments #1 and #2). Attachment #3 shows a comparison of the 2017 and 2018 survey questions alongside questions staff has employed in a business satisfaction survey. It is important to ask relatively consistent questions over time in order to be able to analyze trend information, but questions should also be reviewed to ensure we are gathering data that can lead to action. The Committee should start to consider these questions and others they feel are important toward developing a final survey tool in 2021. It is anticipated the survey will be approximately a three to four month process, since staff will administer it internally. RECOMMENDATION: Discuss timing and question format of the next Business Satisfaction Survey.
