General Informatio
Facts
Louisville offers a small-town atmosphere with
convenient access to the cultural amenities and
economic opportunities of the Denver -Boulder
metropolitan area.
The Front Range of the Rocky Mountains, ten
miles to the west, offers a colorful backdrop to
Louisville and abundant recreation activities.
Climate
Mean Temperatures:
January - 19.5 degrees F,
July - 72.0 degrees F,
October - 52.6 degrees F.
Days of Sunshine: 275/year
Inches of Rain: 15.5/year
Growing Season: 148 days.
Because of its central location in the state,
Louisville never experiences the extremes found in
the mountains and plains of Colorado. The city
has about 275 days of sunshine a year and when
heavy snowfalls occur, they are usually followed
by sunny, dn• days. To Louisville residents, this
means mild days throughout the year to play golf,
catch a round of tennis, enjoy an afternoon in the
park, or walk the many miles of trails throughout
the city.
Housing
Louisville residents display pride in their
community. Well kept neighborhoods, tree -lined
streets, and carefully planned open space form a
transition between the old and new communities
of Louisville. Bike trails and walkways link the
various neighborhoods. From many locations,
residents enjoy spectacular views of the Rocky
Mountains to the west and vast plains to the east.
The city has approximately 7,280 housing units,
single family, condominiums, townhouses, and
apartments. Prices for new and previously owned
single family homes range from the upper
$100,000's to above $400,000 with about 75% of
all homes owner -occupied.
Miscellaneous Statistics
Date of Incorporation
Form of government
Population
Area in square miles
Miles of streets
Facilities and Services
Culture and Recreation:
Community centers
Parks
Acres of Open Space owned by the
City and jointly
Parks acreage
Miles of trails
Picnic areas
Golf courses
Swimming pools
Tennis courts
Library:
Number of libraries
Circulation
Elections:
Number of registered voters
7
May 26, 1882
Council/Manager
—18,950
8.59 sq miles
84.43
2
28
1,906
156
23
19
1
2
11
1
303,652
5,841
