SUBJECT: REVIEW PROPOSED FEES/FINES FOR 2021 <br />DATE: NOVEMBER 17, 2020 PAGE 2 OF 2 <br />The second option is a 3% increase, which is based on the estimated 2020 cost of <br />government (wages, benefits, supplies, services). The current projection for the 2020 <br />CPI is 1.2% and 2021 CPI is 2.1 %. Preliminary numbers for the 2020 CPI will not be <br />available until January. <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />As a whole, charges for services make up a significant portion of the City's revenue. <br />The overall fiscal impacts of the proposed changes are relatively minor as they <br />represent minor changes to smaller fees. <br />PROGRAM/SUB-PROGRAM IMPACT: <br />City Council approval of fees, rates and charges supports the Finance, Accounting and <br />Tax administration sub -program goal of providing financial services in an efficient and <br />effective manner. It also supports the Governance and Administration goal to ensure the <br />City has the financial capacity to sustain Council adopted levels of service. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends approval of the proposed fees/fines for 2021. <br />ATTACHMENT(S): <br />1.
