816 Lincoln Avenue — Recent photo from alley showing garage with a 6:12 roof pitch
Metal roofs on new addition
C.8.I. New additions, exterior alterations or related new construction shall not destroy
historic materials that characterize the property. The new work shall be differentiated
from the old and shall be compatible with the massing, size, scale, and architectural
features to protect the historic integrity of the property and its environment.
Staff Response: Staff finds that the change of roof material from asphalt shingle to
standing seam metal on the portions of the addition to the historic structure provide
differentiation from the original structure and are compatible with the historic character of
the structure. The roofs are minimally visible from the pedestrian level of the street.
Additionally, due to the minimal slope of this portion of the roof, the standing seam metal
should perform better over time than an asphalt shingled roof.
Metal roof on existing front porch
C.8.I.
