In addition, the new situation with COVID-19 has necessitated more frequent email engagement <br />with Library users than previous, which has spurred a discussion about Library newsletters. In October the <br />Library implemented a new newsletter sent out to subscribers. Starting in January this will transition to a <br />Mailchimp service that will allow for more design options for the newsletter. This will be a tool for engaging <br />subscribers and promoting library services that people might not be aware of. <br />The City has worked to revise the key performance indicators for all departments, including the Library. The <br />new KPIs are reduced to 6 covering computer access, circulation, and event attendance. <br />The Library will be closed around Thanksgiving, and from December 24-January 2. <br />A. 2020 Statistics. The full 2020 statistics were not available at the time of the Board meeting. Director <br />Nemechek reports that ebook circulation is up by around 50%, electronic resources are flat, and circulation is <br />down by 50%. These statistics however are in the context of the significant differences in how the Library is <br />operating, <br />B. 2021 Budget. The Library was asked to cut about 15% of the budget in 2020, including a 13% reduction in <br />staffing budget. The Library has requested that the Library Foundation make up 112 of the cut to collections <br />budget. The 2021 budget is not expected to completely make up the cuts in 2020, but will increase staffing <br />over the 2020 budgets. <br />XI. Agenda for Next Meeting: January 2021 <br />1.
