language guidance for the Library in the goal of maximizing accessibility and a consistent visual identity for
the Library. In addition, the new situation with COVID-19 has necessitated more frequent email engagement
with Library users than previous, which has spurred a discussion about Library newsletters. In October the
Library implemented a new newsletter sent out to subscribers. Starting in January this will transition to a
Mailchimp service that will allow for more design options for the newsletter. This will be a tool for engaging
subscribers and promoting library services that people might not be aware of.
The City has worked to revise the key performance indicators for all departments, including the Library. The
new KPIs are reduced to 6 covering computer access, circulation, and event attendance.
The Library will be closed around Thanksgiving, and from December 24-January 2.
A. 2020 Statistics. The full 2020 statistics were not available at the time of the Board meeting. Director
Nemechek reports that ebook circulation is up by around 50%, electronic resources are flat, and circulation is
down by 50%. These statistics however are in the context of the significant differences in how the Library is
operating,
B. 2021 Budget. The Library was asked to cut about 15% of the budget in 2020, including a 13% reduction in
staffing budget. The Library has requested that the Library Foundation make up 112 of the cut to collections
budget. The 2021 budget is not expected to completely make up the cuts in 2020, but will increase staffing
over the 2020 budgets.
XI. Agenda for Next Meeting: January 2021
1. Meeting Protocol Discussion - Review Bylaws
XII. Meeting adjourned at 7:15
