City Council Finance Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br />12/15/20 <br />Page 4 of 5 <br />STAFF REPORTS/UPDATES/DISCUSSIONS <br />Discussion — Credit Card Convenience Fees <br />Kevin Watson, Finance Director, presented a brief overview of credit card <br />"convenience fees' and summarized the Committee's previous discussions on the <br />subject in November 2018. <br />The Committee expressed interest in revisiting this subject and asked staff to come <br />back to the Committee with additional more detailed information <br />The reports and corresponding narrative can be located in the packet of the <br />December 15, 2020 Finance Committee Meeting. <br />New Member Orientation — State Sales & Use Tax System <br />As part of the new member orientation, Mayor Pro Tern Maloney introduced the <br />Committee to the State's system/portal for collecting online sales tax. A <br />Committee presentation from July 21, 2020 was included in the packet and the <br />item was scheduled for further discussion at the March 2021 meeting. <br />The reports and corresponding narrative can be located in the packet of the <br />December 15, 2020 Finance Committee Meeting. <br />GFOA Publication — Understanding Fiscal Health <br />Kevin Watson, Finance Director, summarized the Government Finance Officers <br />Association's (GFOA) has recently published Elected Official Guide (EOG) to <br />Understanding the Fiscal Health of Your Community. <br />A paper copy of the publication has been placed in each Committee Member's mail <br />box for their review. <br />The reports and corresponding narrative can be located in the packet of the <br />December 15, 2020 Finance Committee Meeting. <br />DISCUSSION ITEMS FOR THE NEXT REGULAR MEETING <br />The December regular Finance Committee Meeting is scheduled for Monday, <br />January 25, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. <br />Items scheduled for discussion at the next meeting include: <br />• Quarterly Reports that are Available <br />• Property, Casualty, and Liability Insurance Review <br />• Windy Gap Financing <br />
