The LCC has an art project for the
DeLo underpass in the approval process. There is a second contemplated
project for a sculpture pad on the west side of the underpass but the LCC does
not have the funding. Attorney Kathleen Kelly reviewed the request and came to
the conclusion that this is an appropriate use of LRC funds. Staff requests
concurrence from LRC to forward this to City Council for approval of
expenditure of funds. The item would come back to LRC for final approval most
likely in March.
Director Pierce clarified that the LCC would be responsible for process and
implementing the art project.
Council member Leh will abstain from voting as this will come before City
Council. Members appreciate that Council member Leh should contemplate
whether or not he will vote on items related to funding.
Commissioner Smith made a motion for staff to take the agreement for LRC
funding of artwork for the sculpture pad to City Council. Commissioner Tofte
seconded.
