ORDINANCE NO. 1288
SERIES 1998

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE LOUISVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE TO
ESTABLISH A PARKING PERMIT SYSTEM FOR ON-STREET PARKING AND
PUBLIC PARKING LOTS WITHIN DOWNTOWN LOUISVILLE.

WHEREAS, the City Council desires to establish a permit system for on- and off-street
parking on designated streets and within designated public parking lots in areas of downtown
Louisville that are zoned primarily for commercial use; and

WHEREAS, the City Council desires to establish a permit system for on-street parking
on designated streets in areas of downtown Louisville that are zoned primarily for residential use;
and

WHEREAS, the City Council desires to prohibit or limit the duration of parking on such
streets or within such public parking lots by persons who do not hold permits; and

WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the establishment of such a permit system for
commercially zoned areas of downtown Louisville will reduce parking congestion; reduce
hazardous traffic conditions; promote traffic and pedestrian safety; and foster equitable use of the
limited supply of on- and off-street public parking space within such commercial areas; and

WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the establishment of such a permit system for
residentially zoned areas of downtown Louisville, which restricts parking to persons residing
within such areas, will reduce parking congestion; reduce hazardous traffic conditions; promote
traffic and pedestrian safety; protect those areas from polluted air, excessive noise, and trash;
protect residents of those areas from unreasonable burdens in gaining access to their residences;
preserve the residential character of those areas; and preserve the value of the property in those
areas.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO:

Section 1. Title 10 of the Louisville Municipal Code is hereby amended by the
addition of a new Chapter 10.18 to read as follows:
Chapter 10.18
PARKING PERMIT ZONES AND LOTS

Sections:
10.18.010

City Administrator authorized to designated permit zones and
lots.
