Recreation Advisory Board Minutes
February 22, 2021
Staff Updates
Nathan Mosley presented updates:
• Jim Gilbert, the current Senior Administrative Assistant, plans to retire.
The administrative staff is considering applications and interviewing
applicants to fill this position.
• There is no definitive word regarding when in -person meetings can return.
• The land dedications of the Redtail Ridge project have been approved by
the Parks and Public Landscaping Advisory Board and the Open Space
Advisory Board.
• Play equipment in Cottonwood Park will be replaced later in 2021.
• Work is in progress on the much anticipated S. 104t" Street trail
connection from Carolyn Holmberg Open Space to the Coal Creek trail.
This entails coordination with CDOT.
Memory Square 2021 Season Operating Plan
Paul Borth presented the operating plan for Memory Square pool for summer
2021. He highlighted several changes and special programs for the 2021
season
• Employees will begin to de -winterize the pool in mid -April. The pool will
open earlier than usual on May 1, weather permitting. Regular operating
hours will begin on May 31.
The pool will follow all Boulder County COVID health guidelines. The
current plan is that there will be a total pool capacity of 50 people, a lap
swim capacity of 12 (two swimmers per lane), and a water aerobics class
limit of 15 participants. There will be a reservation system and time limits
for pool use: 1 hour and 45 minutes for open swim and 50 minutes for lap
swim. Reservations are recommended for all activities, but drop -ins will be
allowed, if space is available.
The Dolphins Swim Team will have dedicated time to practice in the
morning and evening, as well as use the pool for three home meets. This
is a large swim team, with up to 270 swimmers in the past. Private lessons
will be offered at Memory Square, while group swim classes will be taught
at the Rec Center. Pool rentals are not suggested at this time.
