Recreation Advisory Board Minutes
February 22, 2021
Paul Borth presented new pool amenity options, with money budgeted
through 2023.
o In 2021 a climbing wall could be added at the deep end of the
program pool.
o In 2022 a zip line could be placed in the splash pool bay.
o In 2023 an inflatable obstacle course could be provided in the
program pool. This requires additional staff time to set up and take
down.
Board discussion:
The board wondered what children and teens actually want, and whether
they would prefer more space for swimming and playing in the water, or if
there are other options that they would prefer. Paul reported that he had
contacted other facilities to find out what is popular, but had not conducted
surveys of young people, which would have been been difficult with
COVID restrictions. Board members suggested that the Dolphins swim
team is a group that could be accessed for feedback. Comments about
the new proposed amenities were favorable, but the board would like
young people to have a say.
Resolved: The staff should ask for feedback from 5 to 15-year-olds regarding
new pool amenities.
Motion: Michele Van Pelt
Second: Lisa Norgard
The motion was approved unanimously.
Golf Course Update
David Baril reported that snow has limited the golf course opening plans.
The club has been bringing on staff to be ready to open, whenever the
weather cooperates. The restaurant had a soft opening on the weekend of
February 20-21 to train staff, which included an inspection by Boulder
County Health. The restaurant has replaced some major equipment. The
grand opening will be the weekend of February 27-28. The golf shop will
reopen, with appropriate COVID protocols. The driving range is open for
the general public, and has automatic social distancing.
In response to a question about restaurant signage, Nathan Mosley
replied that the main sign at the entrance showcases the name of the
restaurant. Board members pointed out that the name of the previous
restaurant on the building has not been completely erased.
