Historic Preservation Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />February 9, 2009 <br />Page 4 of 5 <br />doable in the grant time frame and that it is far more likely to be funded. She <br />noted that the OAHP thinks that projects any larger than that are too big and hard <br />to manage and it would be less likely to be funded. Therefore this survey would <br />be the first of four or five to be done annually or biannually to complete all of Old <br />Town. <br />Muth shared copies of the Request for Proposals that she had prepared for <br />surveyors and noted that it states the project would be updating 30 downtown <br />surveys completed in 2000 and adding another 10 commercial sites not already <br />surveyed as well as doing 60 other residential sites. The residential surveys <br />would be divided into subdivisions with the oldest done first. <br />Tofte asked if the 30 updated surveys should be done last and new sites done <br />first. <br />Muth stated that one aspect of the updated surveys would be to add a field for <br />determining if the site qualifies for local landmarking. She noted the previous <br />surveys do not include this and that has been a serious issue on the mortuary <br />building for example. She stated that as all HPF funding will be based on local <br />landmarking this is critical information to have, particularly in the commercial area <br />in which there is more development pressure. <br />Muth stated that as the next HPC meeting will not be until after the grant is <br />complete and has had one review from the OAHP she asked for direction to <br />proceed with the grant application for 100 sites. <br />Members gave her direction to do so. <br />Discussion/Direction -Demolition Review Process Regarding Initial Loss <br />of Building Type <br />This item was continued to the March meeting as it was placed on the agenda at <br />the request of Muckle. <br />Establishment of 2009 Subcommittees <br />This item was continued to the March meeting. <br />Update on Demolition Requests <br />None. <br />Discussion/Comments on Planning Department Referrals <br />None. <br />Updates <br />1800 Plaza Drive Hecla Casino Building -stay expires 4/19/09 <br />Lewis reported that she met with the building owner today and toured the <br />property.
