<br /> <br />SUMMER READING PROGRAM WRAP-UP <br /> <br />CHILDREN - "Catch the Reading Bug" <br />A record number-960 children-signed up this year. Partici- <br />.. pants enjoyed learning about bug cuisine, insect <br />habitats, and dancing to buggy beats. Our <br />"Charity Challenge" was met with over 14,000 <br />hours read. To honor this achievement, the <br />Louisville Public Library Foundation donated <br />$500 to Louisville Preschool. <br /> <br />TEENS - "Metamorphosis @ Your Library" <br />year, 156 teens signed up for this popular summer event <br />and enjoyed programs filled with exciting transformations, <br />such as: <br /> <br />EfFects Seminar <br />* Advanced Manga Drawing Workshop <br />Origami Workshop <br /> <br /> <br />Hulk," "Splash," and <br /> <br />"Bride & Prejudice" <br />wrap-up event on Friday, August 1 featured a DDR <br />Game Night and award of the Grand Prize-a $50 Best Buy <br />gift certificate. <br /> <br />ADULTS - "Take Flight @ Your Library" <br />year's program saw 139 participants stretch their imagi- <br />nations by reading and listening to books, answering trivia <br />questions, attending adventure travel programs, and watching <br />a movie at the Library. Many parents enjoyed participating <br />along with their children and reading as a family. Due to the <br />generosity oflocal businesses, our prizes were bigger and bet- <br />ter than ever! <br /> <br />WHIMSICAL SCULPTURE <br /> <br />ON DISPLAY <br />Louisville sculptor Jennifer Rudkin will display <br />her artwork in the Library's Children's area dur- <br />show will feature animals "On the <br />Move" - day creatures riding antique vintage toys. In <br />combination with this show, Rudkin will give demon- <br />strations of her craft in the Children's Story time Room <br />at 11 :00 AM on Wednesday, September 3 and at 6:30 PM <br />Thursday September 4. Click on the AskColorado icon on the Library's homep- <br />age to ask a librarian for reference help. <br />Find information quickly by using Power Search, which <br />feature connects <br />you to excellent homework databases plus the Library's online <br />reference books. Search all these resources simultaneously to <br />find information for your homework assignments. Just go to <br />the library's web site and click on Databases and Websites, <br />and then on PowerSearch at the bottom of the page. <br /> <br /> <br />
