SUMMER READING PROGRAM WRAP-UP CHILDREN - "Catch the Reading Bug" A record number-960 children-signed up this year. Partici- .. pants enjoyed learning about bug cuisine, insect habitats, and dancing to buggy beats. Our "Charity Challenge" was met with over 14,000 hours read. To honor this achievement, the Louisville Public Library Foundation donated $500 to Louisville Preschool. TEENS - "Metamorphosis @ Your Library" year, 156 teens signed up for this popular summer event and enjoyed programs filled with exciting transformations, such as: EfFects Seminar * Advanced Manga Drawing Workshop Origami Workshop Hulk," "Splash," and "Bride & Prejudice" wrap-up event on Friday, August 1 featured a DDR Game Night and award of the Grand Prize-a $50 Best Buy gift certificate. ADULTS - "Take Flight @ Your Library" year's program saw 139 participants stretch their imagi- nations by reading and listening to books, answering trivia questions, attending adventure travel programs, and watching a movie at the Library. Many parents enjoyed participating along with their children and reading as a family. Due to the generosity oflocal businesses, our prizes were bigger and bet- ter than ever! WHIMSICAL SCULPTURE ON DISPLAY Louisville sculptor Jennifer Rudkin will display her artwork in the Library's Children's area dur- show will feature animals "On the Move" - day creatures riding antique vintage toys. In combination with this show, Rudkin will give demon- strations of her craft in the Children's Story time Room at 11 :00 AM on Wednesday, September 3 and at 6:30 PM Thursday September 4.
