This photo, dated 1940, shows
a parade passing in front of
801 Main Street. Today, this building is
known as the State Mercantile Building,
which is how it was known when it was
first constructed in 1905. Beginning in
about 1910, the Carveth Bros. & Dalby
general merchandise store occupied the
building for over thirty-five years.
next three buildings to the north
were also constructed in the early 1900s
and still look very much the same as they
did when this picture was taken.
If you have any information as to the
occasion on which this photo was taken
or the identities of anyone in the photo,
please contact the Louisville Historical Museum at 303.665.9048 or museum@ci.louisville.co.us.
To see this and other great historic photos and archives of Louisville, please visit the Historical Museum, 1001 Main
- Thursday, and the first Saturday of each month, 10 AM - 3 PM.

- M,jfG,;~Jr.w..""ftl,.- -~, tt... l~ l'_L
~:~~~~~.~~'~'it~
~I~::& JLboA"",_~~~~
.. ~!i7~ ..... __lll.~"~r-~
"","~'liIt~-.' ~_ .~~~-,~~
~. .,.....-.-..~
..- .. ...... ,... -.. -.. .._,
,- ..
~-~-
~ ."... .'.. - ".. ~~. - . .... .. - ,.:...

~~ ~arrJt--~ (1)~:Ui;lfJ!IU ~~~
1:frA~- h~- ",
I'l-,._>_____:__---':..---n-..-~
_It) ,,~~~_~ll!r~
~ .:r~~,)'1i~<<_11~
!'1~~~~~
~ ~~~.;__~YII
p;-_~IQ~

__Arm<i~
:G:~~IT~
-~~
