LL Euivillestiyof
2020 Louisville Downtown Patio Program
Guidelines and Application
Staff Contact: Megan Pierce
303.335.4531
mpierce@louisvilleco.gov
The purpose of the Downtown Patio Program makes available outdoor patios within existing on -street
parking spaces from approximately late April through early November (6 months). The program
provides benefits to the community as a whole by encouraging an active streetscape, contributing to
the City's positive image, and drawing residents and visitors to Downtown. Participating food and
drink establishments benefit from added seating to accommodate demand for outdoor dining.
General Guidelines:
Placement: Patios will be placed: 1) within an existing on -street full parking stall; 2) adjacent to the
leased or owned location of the business (i.e. on the street frontage) or be covered by an agreement
with the adjacent tenant and landlord and complies with state regulations; and 3) In front of the
establishment's primary street frontage (i.e. patios may not be placed on more than one street).
Special situations will be reviewed on a case -by -case basis.
Availability: Establishments that participated in the previous year's season are eligible to use the
same linear footage of patio in 2020. Each establishment is able to request the maximum amount of
patio allowed for the property identified in the attached table. If requests are greater than the supply
of patios, City Staff will request to the City Council and partner organizations funding for additional
patios. If funding is not available, establishments nearest an existing patio location will be first offered
to rent the available patios until all patios are utilized.
Cost: Annual rental fee for 12 linear feet of patio is $1,000, which defrays the City's operational costs
to implement the program; you will receive an invoice after materials are submitted. Payments may
be made in full by April 1, 2020. If payment becomes 30 days past due, the City will notify the
business of delinquency, and if payment is not received within 15 days, the patio may be removed.
License Agreement: All participating establishments need to execute a License Agreement for the
use of the Public Right -of -Way, which is enclosed.
Liquor License: Please remember to visit the City Clerk's Office to adjust your liquor license premises
to accommodate the patios. This can now be aligned with your annual renewal. See the Clerk's Office
for details.
Important Dates:
February 17, 2020 Complete Patio Application Packet due to Economic Vitality
March 9, 2020 City Completes application review and draft placement plan
April 1, 2020 Rent payment due
April 22, 2020 Patio installation (weather permitting)
November 3, 2020 Patio removal (may be earlier, weather dependent)
Attachments:
1) Application for Patios
2) License Agreement for Use of Public Right -of -Way
Agenda Packet P. 9
