SUBJECT: FUNDING TO ENHANCE DOWNTOWN PATIO PARKLETS
DATE: MAY 12, 2021 PAGE 3 OF 3
quoted at $1,500 each. Since the costs have increased dramatically, LRC could
proceed with the purchase now or delay to see if prices decrease.
Should the LRC wish to pursue this project, staff has prepared a draft Cooperation
Agreement (see Attachment #3) that outlines the purchase of canopy systems and patio
parklets by the LRC—including a not -to -exceed cost of $81,000. The fixtures would be
owned and maintained by the City of Louisville for use in its annual patio program.
Though the canopy systems can be readily produced and delivered, the patio parklets
have a longer lead time of two months. If the LRC wishes to advance this agreement,
staff would prepare it for City Council consideration at the June 1 regular meeting; the
agreement would then require final approval from LRC at its June 9 meeting before the
order would be placed. It would be feasible to proceed with preparing the Cooperation
Agreement but advise staff to delay the purchase and get a new quote later this fall
before placing the order.
RECOMMENDATION:
Review the draft Cooperation Agreement to fund enhancements to the Downtown patio
parklets.
ATTACHMENTS:
• Attachment #1: Annual Patio Program Application Package
• Attachment #2: Western Precision Manufacturing Quote
• Attachment #3: Cooperation Agreement (Draft)
Agenda Packet P. 8
