Cityqt <br />Louisville <br />City Manager's Office <br />Memorandum <br />To: Louisville Sustainability Advisory Board <br />From: Katie Baum, Sustainability Coordinator <br />Date: May 19, 2021 <br />Re: Staff Updates <br />General <br />Education/Programming <br />• Green Business <br />o PACE is currently hiring a new bilingual PACE advisor and an East County PACE fellow <br />primarily funded by Lafayette. An Economic Vitality Specialist is being hired to support <br />Louisville's Director of Economic Vitality. <br />o The Green Business program is formally being rebranded to be launched with the <br />upcoming 2021 program year. <br />o Potential for an in -person kick of breakfast with Lafayette and Superior programs in <br />early fall. <br />• Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety/Education <br />o Staff is building communications around bicycle and pedestrian education and safety <br />for the summer as there is an anticipation around increased bike/ped use with the <br />Main Street closure and lessening COVID-19 precautions. <br />o Considering a Bike, Walk, and Wheel Week in mid -September to conclude education <br />campaign. <br />o Supports Bicycle Friendly Community application this fall. <br />• Voluntary Drought Restrictions <br />o The low -to -average levels of snowpack, coupled with 2020 being a record hot, dry year <br />with wildfires that affected critical watershed areas has sent many North Metro areas <br />into Drought Watch, where water conditions are closely monitored to make <br />determinations on if water restrictions will be necessary. <br />o Louisvilleco.gov/bewaterwise <br />• Climate Action Outreach (LSAB) <br />
