A.
Are we talking about a two foot grass strip or are there other plantings as well?
What we are talking about is there is a two foot grass strip along each side of the
building. There clearly are other plantings within our site plan.
Commissioner Lipton - If in fact we decide on the two foot strip I not sure we want it to be
sod. We may want to look at designating other types of plantings that may be more
meaningful.
Mark Neuman - That is something that we have considered. Probably putting in something
like some kind of flag stone paver at the points where there is likely to be traffic.
Q.
A.
In the minutes from the last meeting for this when we looked at the preliminary
there was a concern expressed that there was not enough brick in the design. It
was even designated as substantial brick. I don't see where that has been
mentioned or discussed?
In the last meeting in was suggested that we have substantial amount of brick or
stucco. I think the Commission was somewhat divided on that issue. The project
that has been approved just to the west, across McCaslin, is going to be an all
brick project. It was presented to us that it would be nice to see some contrasting
building materials. I believe we have addressed that by going to 100% stucco.
Commissioner Lipton - I don't recall that, does anyone else?
Commissioner VanNostrand - I was one of the brick team and Barton felt that we already had
plenty of brick and that he liked the stucco better.
Q. On the two foot grass area, what is the functioning purpose of that?
A. From an operating point of view we would prefer not to have it. I was a change
we made in the plan to accommodate the desires of the City.
Q. Would something other than grass, like shrub, hedge, bush or whatever handicap
your operations in any way?
Q. A shrub would end up getting beat up by car bumpers.
A. On the snow removal plan do you pile all the snow up there on the grass?
A. No.
Q. Do you have a picture of one of your properties that would use a two foot strip?
A. We have never done that before so I do not.
Applicant's Summary - Mark Neuman - We appreciate the comments that have come both
from Planning Staff and the Commission. We feel we have done the best we could within the
limitations of the fixed boundary of the site. We feel that we have done a good job of meeting
the stipulations that were presented at the prior meeting and would look forward to a vote of
approval on the project with the conditions we have outlined tonight.
25
