Sustainability Advisory Board Agenda
August 18
Congressman Goose. His response was the most important thing we
can do is contact our Senators for funding.
C. Todd — On the board for Mountain Parks Electric Coop — They have an
optional donation that helps fund sustainability programs. This might be
an option for funding
D. Josh — Attended the Parks and Open Space meeting — More
sustainable landscaping mowing in the City. The issue has been
brought up prior and the urgency has kind ebbed and flowed over time.
No real action items were taken from the topic. Josh will get a general
outline going for LSAB to give input on. Has a conversation with the
major. The major is on board with having all new buildings be fossil
free. Also discussed Dark Sky. There will be a new ordinance coming
out. Lastly the Council is planning on putting on a ballot initiative to
raise money for over/under passes.
7. 7:05 PM City Staff Update (10 min)
A. Katie — Last night council passed the September 20t" Bike and Walk
week programing. Currently 36 residential have been answered, only 3
commercial answered so far. Might be worth extended through
September. Free reusable bag give-away was a smashing success at
the Summer concert series last Thursday. 100 bags were given away in
30 minutes. There will be 400 more to give away next Friday 27t" at the
street fare. Bag tax is kicking off. There will be a new renewable action
plan from Xcel Energy.
8. 7:15 PM Discussion Item: Building Code Update
Led by Katie Baum, Sustainability Coordinator with Rob Zuccaro, Director
of Planning and Building Safety
This is taken form the 2021 work plan. Phase 1. Consideration of adoption
of the 2021 IECC standards. Lots of discussion on funding and how can
we help get these standards incorporated. Lot of discussion on residential
upgrades. Maybe making the ordinance requirement size of the upgrade
more aggressive. Effect more energy upgrades on more residential
expansions.
RJ — Phase 1 introduced to Council on September 7t". When is Phase 2
going to roll out? We need to act quicker on Phase 2.
Katie — small request — A letter of support on the adoption of 2021 IECC
standards — Tiffany and Laura are going to draft a letter. Letter needed by
Sept 10t", drop dead date. Voted on submitting a letter of support. Tiffany
made a motion, Laura 2nd
9. 8:08 PM Discussion Item: Sustainability Newsletter
See Newsletter attached
2
