Revitalization Commission
Minutes
September 8, 2021
Roll Call vote:
Commissioner Gorsevski - yes
Commissioner Tofte - yes
Chair Adler - yes
Commissioner Williams - yes
Commissioner Gambale - yes
Council member Leh - yes
Motion passed
Discussion/Direction — Work Plan
Director Pierce noted that for development of a proposed 2022 budget, staff will
require input about the LRC's highest priorities or any new projects they are
interested in undertaking. Commissioners reviewed Work Plan items where the
priority was highlighted in "yellow" —meaning it had not been updated since
committing to the Transportation Master Plan underpass improvements.
Commissioners asked questions about combining the two phases of the
Wayfinding Signage Program, implementation of bike connectivity
improvements, scope of streetscape and street furniture project, and areas of
sidewalk improvements. Staff gathered feedback to revise the prioritization.
Due to time, Commissioners did not review the entire Work Plan.
Commissioners will send comments on priorities to Director Pierce to
incorporate ahead of the next meeting date.
• Discussion/ Direction — Preliminary 2022 Budget
Director Pierce reviewed the budget process timeline. She requested direction
from Commissioners to be able to bring back a proposed budget in October.
She then reviewed several projects that staff felt the LRC may wish to consider
for next year's budget, including: expanded wayfinding signage, bike parking
amenities, public infrastructure assistance, marketing strategy and
implementation, and facade improvement program.
Councilmember Leh inquired about how a facade improvement program would
interact with the existing historic preservation program. Director Pierce said this
will require more detail and consideration in the structure of the program. She
said it is feasible to get a program into place by early next year and then start
awarding funds. Commissioner Smith submitted a comment that he is in
support of facade improvements. Chair Adler is also in agreement.
Agenda Packet P. 6
