The project would occupy 1,200 square feet of commercial space that has not been a sales tax generating use since 2019. The company will have approximately 18 employees, with job salaries of $25 per hour (including tipped employees). The application meets the assistance criteria by bringing new jobs to the City, drawing new customers, creating new sales tax, and utilizing an existing building. The assistance is proposed to be a 50% rebate on new sales tax over a five-year period, capped at $60,000. The project must be completed by April 30, 2022 and the business must remain in Louisville for seven years or a percentage of rebates received must be repaid. Based on the estimates provided by the applicant, the business would pay $115,500 in sales taxes over the five-year period; it is estimated $57,750 would be rebated by the City.
