IV. Approval of previous minutes: The minutes were moved to be approved by Board
member Dufresne and approved by acclamation.
V. Public Comments: No public comments
VI. Trustee Informational Comments on Pertinent Items Not on the Agenda:
• N/A
VII. New Business
A. Little Free Library Update
a. The little free library by Community park has WASPs. Board member
West tried tacking unscented drier sheets to the library, as didn't want to
spray wasp spray on it and contaminate the books inside.
b. Director Nemechek has had success w/Cinnamon essential oil.
c. Is this appropriate to ask the city to address the wasps as part of park
maintenance?
i. Director Nemechek to follow up. City sprayed previous infestation
- concern re: contaminating the books. Plan to check with city and
if they need to spray, to empty out library for a few days.
d. President Seyle - update from Library Foundation
i. Original agreement: Board of trustees responsibility to keep them
stocked, and Foundation would pay for any repairs.
ii. Foundation open to include that in their scope, but would like
trustees to submit all repairs in list so they can engage a handy
person 1 x vs having someone on call.
iii. City Parks department is understaffed
iv. Memory square park little free library - always in
disrepair/disarray.
1. Would we want to just remove it? It was an Eagle scout
project, and wasn't part of the original commitment.
V. President Seyle will send out a list to fill out with needed repairs
per library.
vi. Plan to discuss Memory square little free library. Determine if it
needs to be removed or re -homed to elsewhere in the park. Board
member Lechner will keep close eye on it for the next few months
to help inform discussion.
B. DEI Policy Review
a. Youth Services Division Policy
i. Changes:
1. New intro paragraph for consistency and welcome
message across other policies. Invite feedback.
2. Reordered and cleaned up sections
3. Removed expectations of behavior as the Code of conduct
already covers everyone in the library. And same with
Computer and internet use. Those topics don't need to be
specific to children/teens and are redundant to other
policies.
